Rutland Hall Hotel features on BBC One's Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr
A countryside hotel was at the centre of a popular BBC television programme.
Rutland Hall Hotel starred in this week’s quarter final episode of BBC One’s Interior Design Masters - with shots of Rutland Water featuring heavily.
Presented by comedian Alan Carr, the show follows aspiring interior designers as they transform ordinary spaces into innovative designs.
Rutland Hall Hotel’s episode, which was aired last night (Tuesday), shows contestants Jack, Monika, Temi and Tom transform two wedding lodges on the grounds of the hotel on the north shore of Rutland Water.
Split into teams of two, each group was tasked with decorating a lodge for either a bride or groom.
Jack and Temi created a space for a bride, while Monika and Tom were in the groom’s lodge.
Part of Jack’s final design even included a hoop around a garden chair to frame the reservoir in the background.
Each interior designer was given just £1,500 for the transformation.
The location, which Alan Carr described as ‘stunning’ was chosen as the hotel is ‘a fabulous wedding venue’, according to interiors guru Michelle Ogundehin.
The detached timber-framed lodges with slanted ceilings also provided a challenge to the interior designers.
The results were applauded, with one lodge being transformed into a dark, romantic bedroom with a light and bright canopy lounge, and the other into a floral sage green lounge with a swing and foliage-themed bedroom and terrace.
Joanne White, managing director of Rutland Hall Hotel, said: “We loved being involved in the show and are so happy with the designers’ work.
"The lodges offer the perfect place for close friends and family of the couple to unwind and relax before their special day, with the added bonus of the beautiful views over Rutland Water. Everyone at the hotel was so excited to be involved in showing audiences across the nation that we are one of England’s best kept secrets.
"I hope it encapsulates how special our destination hotel is in providing the perfect venue for creating lasting memories.”
After eight episodes, an overall winner will be chosen to win a commercial interior design contract, described as ‘life-changing’
At the end of the episode, Temi was eliminated from the competition.
The episode, which was sixth in the series, is available on BBC iPlayer.
