Stamford charity shop burglary turns out to be a drunken accident
A man confessed to accidentally breaking a shop window during a night out.
Police received a report of the window being smashed at the Barnardo's charity shop in Broad Street, Stamford, at 2.45am on Sunday.
They initially thought it was an attempted burglary until a 24-year-old contacted them on Monday morning to apologise.
A friend told him that he actually fell into the window while drunk the night before and he wanted to make things right.
The shop manager confirmed an insurance claim was made and the window has been repaired.
