McDonald's plans to open first fast food restaurant in Oakham, Rutland

Fast food giant McDonald's has put forward plans to open its first restaurant in Rutland.

Until now, Oakham and Uppingham have not made the 'McDonald's map', with the nearest branches in Stamford, Corby and Melton Mowbray.

If plans are approved the restaurant would be built on the corner of Lands End Way and Hackamore Way in Oakham.

It would create 65 full and part-time jobs with associated training.

A public event for people to find out more about the plans will be held between 2pm and 8pm on Wednesday May 22 at Victoria Hall in High Street, Oakham.

McDonald's has invited people to 'come along to learn more about our ambitions in the area, give us your thoughts and feedback, and ask us any questions'.
