Medical practices celebrate NHS at 70

Several medical practices across the area celebrated the 70th anniversary of the NHS earlier this month in a variety of ways.

Staff members at the Hereward Practice in Bourne held a tea party and presented a long time patient with a bouquet of flowers, while similar celebrations were held at The Deepings Practice, which was attended by Market Deeping mayor David Shelton.

Hereward Practice manager Debbie Galloway said they had decorated the premises and held a party with staff members bringing cake.

“We wanted to do something to celebrate the 70th anniversary,” said Debbie.

“So we had the tea party and invited a patient, Joan Bavister, who shares her 70th birthday with the NHS to join us and we presented her with flowers.

“It was a lovely occasion and she really enjoyed it and sent us a thank you card after.”

A tea party was also held at The Deepings Health Centre.

A message on the practice’s noticeboard following the party read: “Thank you for all your support, we raised over £200 for Sarcoma UK.

“Lots of cake eaten and a few laughs along the way.

“Thank you to everyone who helped make our NHS celebrations a lovely local event.”

There was also a party at Stamford Hospital.

The NHS turned 70 on July 5.
