Mobile Covid-19 testing facility was at Rutland Showground in Oakham
A mobile Covid-19 testing facility was set up in Oakham this week managed by Army personnel.
The agricultural showground in Oakham hosted a mobile testing facility for Covid-19 from Tuesday until yesterday .
Portfolio holder for public health at Rutland County Council Alan Walters (Con) said: “ I am delighted that so many people were able to obtain a test locally for this awful disease.
“The facility was aimed primarily at our local NHS and care workers, and it was very reassuring to see a constant flow of people taking up the offer throughout the three days.
“Staff on duty were very complementary at how the event had been managed, in contrast to some of their recent visits to other
venues.
“Thankfully in Rutland the virus remains relatively low-level, but that is only due to our fantastic residents following Government advice - and I would urge everyone to continue doing so to keep safe.”
Testing stations are also at the East of England Showground in Peterborough and Birstall Park and Ride, north of Leicester.
Peterborough Showground is the nearest drive-through testing centre for people in Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings.
