Moonwalk raises huge £38,000 for hospice
The first Moonlight Walk that took place in Stamford raised an incredible £38,000 for a hospice.
The event, which took place on Saturday, September 15, from the Borderville Centre attracted more than 400 participants, who dressed in pink and glitter.
The money will go towards St Barnabas Hospice, which hosted the event.
Amelia Mochan, events fundraiser for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, said: “Raising £38,000 is completely overwhelming and definitely exceeded our expectations. The money will go directly towards the care in the south of the county.
“We provide care and support to so many people in Stamford and the surrounding areas but the event has really helped raise the profile of St Barnabas and increased the awareness for people who do not know about our services.”
As well as raising funds, Amelia said the event also attracted new supporters for the charity.
She said: ““We were delighted to have 50 new volunteers on board for the night, who were key to the success of the walk. A massive thank you goes to for RJ Scholes Funeral Directors for sponsoring the event; we couldn’t have done it without them.”
St Barnabas Hospice also announced the Stamford walk would return next year, in June, alongside the annual Lincoln walk.
