Burghley House near Stamford reveals name of playground as Hide and Secrets based on William Cecil as a spymaster
The name and opening date of a new adventure playground has been revealed.
Burghley House near Stamford is creating the new visitor attraction that will be located close to the sculpture garden.
Called Hide and Secrets, the woodland playarea will be themed around William Cecil as the country’s first spymaster.
When it opens on April 29, youngsters will be able to complete their own secret missions – discovering hidden wooden mole carvings, and enjoying cypher code breaking.
Featuring a new Burghley character, Cecil the Mole, and a series of landscaped play zones leading to the hidden towers with slides and a rope bridge, the attraction - which has been designed with accessibility in mind - will also have a separate toddler area and a refreshment cabin called The Muddy Mole.
A spokesperson for Burghley said work on the attraction is “progressing well” and the play structure is taking shape.
The equipment has been designed by CAP.Co Adventure Play.
A new car park is also being created.
Separate tickets will be available, which will include access to the Garden of Surprises and sculpture garden.
Burghley House and gardens are currently closed for winter and will reopen on March 18.
