Marianne Rawlins, The Apprentice candidate from Stamford, gets through week four despite being hauled in front of Lord Sugar in the boardroom

It was almost ‘on yer bike’ for Stamford contestant Marianne Rawlins in BBC One’s The Apprentice on Wednesday night.

The 36-year-old risk management consultant was called back to the boardroom with Lord Sugar, along with Thomas Skinner and Luba Farham.

The programme saw the teams having to design and sell an electric bike with accessories.

US-born Marianne clashed with Thomas over its name and after the bike produced poor sales a blame game ensued, with Marianne calling Thomas a ‘dictator’ after he and oth3er team members changed its name at the last minute.

With the three called back to the boardroom, Marianne told the Mercury she was “definitely in a particularly vulnerable position”.

She said: “Debate is my favourite subject. I was just fighting for my life. I don’t like aggressive leadership and using intimidation. I felt that’s what he did.”

That aside, Marianne said: “I love Thomas. I think he was surprised. He didn’t expect me to come out that strong in the boardroom.”

In the end, Lubna was fired, accused of contributing little to the bike project.

Marianne said Lubna was ‘lovely’ and ‘a respectable person’, adding she gave her feedback on her in the reaction show The Apprentice: You’re Fired.

Next week the contestants will be challenged to buy nine items from Oxford and Cambridge for the cheapest total price.
