Grasmere Farm launches the The Old Bakehouse in Bourne, to run alongside the established Grasmere Farm Butchers and Bakery in West Street

A farm business has launched a new deli, following on from the success of its first.

Grasmere Farm has launched the The Old Bakehouse in Bourne, which will run alongside the established Grasmere Farm Butchers and Bakery in West Street.

Since officially opening on May 28, the deli has already built a strong customer base.

Shop manager, Alan Bradshaw, said:“The comments to myself and the staff have been incredibly positive.

“It is just what the town needs and there is nowhere locally to find such a wide range local, quality produce.

“Not only are our customers impressed with the variety of artisan food available, but a big talking point as been the keeping of the old Baker Perkins oven.”

He added: “We are looking to decorate with old bakery themes and would certainly welcome any old pictures or information of this historic site.

“It is great that so many families are bringing their children in to share a little bit of the towns history.”

Sustainability and tackling environmental issues is a key focus for the business, with zero waste dispensers having been installed in the new Bourne deli so customers can bring their own containers.

It follows the launch of a deli in Market Deeping in November. The farm also has a shop in Stamford High Street.

Grasmere Farm retail manager, Will Bowell, said: “As a well known local company, we are trying to ensure we are aware of our responsibilities and in keeping with our ethos in regards to our farming, ensure that our shops are creating as little impact on the environment as possible.”

“Where we can we use local suppliers and, where possible, look for tie-ins within that.”
