MindSpace Stamford appeals for new trustees
An opportunity has arisen for people to join a small charity that is making a huge impression on the community.
MindSpace Stamford, which aims to improve mental wellbeing through a community approach, has been developing over the past five years and its support network has proved particularly important during the pandemic.
Now, as some of its volunteer trustees reach the end of their three-year term, the charity is seeking new board members.
Paul Sinfield from Uffington is stepping down in September, but will continue as a MindSpace volunteer.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a trustee,” he said. “I became involved after a friend spoke so positively about the charity.”
Paul, a self-employed marketing and communications specialist, used ‘downtime’ in his work to refresh the MindSpace Stamford brand and relaunch its website.
People with marketing, finance, IT, fundraising and people-management skills are particularly needed on the charity’s board of trustees.
Beka Avery, who lives in Stamford, became a trustee earlier this year and will continue in the role.
A careers practitioner who works with young people, she is thoroughly enjoying ‘challenging herself’ and the career and skills development it brings along the way.
“Since joining MindSpace as a trustee I’ve never felt so connected with my community,” she added.
“With challenges to be solved, and working on something that is intent on doing good, it is a really rewarding experience.”
Other trustees include Stamford GP Dan Petrie, a founder of MindSpace, and Helen Howe who is chairman of the board.
