New fire engine to arrive as Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue starts recruitment to train to be a firefighter at Stamford Fire Station
Stamford Fire Station in Radcliffe Road is soon to receive a new fire engine - and the crew manager is recruiting trainees too.
A year ago, Lincolnshire County Council announced it was investing in 33 new Scania appliances, which would be rolled out to fire stations over three years.
Crew manager David Vines has been getting to know the new 18-tonne engine and the high-spec cutting equipment and fire extinguishing systems on board.
Capable of carrying 1,800 litres of water on-board, compared with 1,400 litres on the older appliances, 16 of the appliances will include Coldcut Cobra. This is an ultra high pressure system where water travels through walls, meaning firefighters can tackle fires from outside buildings, with reduced water damage inside.
David wants to hear from people who would like to train as on-call firefighters. Those interested can have jobs, but would need to be able to get to Stamford Fire Station within five minutes of being alerted.
Training is carried out on Monday evenings at the fire station, from 6.30pm to 9pm. To find out more call 0800 3580 204 or email RecruitmentFire@lincoln.fire-uk.org
