Oakham Bus Station introduces change to opening hours to discourage anti-social behaviour

Oakham Bus Station is introducing a temporary change to its opening hours.

With effect from tomorrow (Saturday, November 16), the bus station will close at the slightly earlier time of 5pm each day.

The earlier closing time is being introduced as a temporary measure to discourage anti-social behaviour and misuse of the facility, which has prevented passengers from using the waiting area in recent weeks.

Chris Traill, strategic director for places at Rutland County Council, said: “The decision to temporarily alter the opening hours for Oakham Bus Station has not been taken lightly and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

“We’re making this change with passengers in mind and the bus station will return to normal operating hours once issues like unacceptable noise and inappropriate behaviour have been resolved.”

The change to opening hours is temporary but will stay in place until further notice. There will be no change or disruption to bus times or services as a result of the change.
