Oliver show leaves actor wanting more

A young actor is treading the boards in the lead role of the musical Oliver!

Stamford schoolboy Alex Newcombe will appear on stage at The Key Theatre in Peterborough this week.

Alex, a pupil at Great Casterton Primary School, was thrilled to be given the opportunity.

He said: “I’ve always loved the film Oliver! so was super excited to get the part. I’ve wanted to be on stage ever since I saw Mary Poppins at the theatre. When I’m bigger I want to play Bert and go on a wire across the ceiling of the stage whilst singing Step in Time.”
