One World Week exhibition at Stamford Arts Centre and climate change demonstration to be held on Stamford High Street

Stamford's One World Week will be raising awareness for the climate emergency through a peaceful gathering and an art exhibition.

One World Week aims for people to acknowledge the urgency for change and suggest actions that can be taken personally, as communities and as national citizens.

The Stamford climate extinction group are encouraging people to join them at 11am on Friday, November 8 to draw attention to the current 'climate emergency'.

Schools in the area have been asked to make banners, which the children can bring to the High Street before later being displayed in Stamford Arts Centre during the exhibition.

This year's exhibition theme is 'Climate Changes Everything - Now is the time to act'.

The exhibition will feature a range of art work including some from the students at New College Stamford.

Last years event saw models made from waste materials, a painting of an 'invisible person' and a model albatross covered in oil.

George Hetherington, who has helped organise the week, said that the part of the exhibition done by the students is what 'really stands out'.

There will be stalls with ideas on how to make positive changes in day-to-day life to avoid a climate disaster, as well as Fairtrade goods for sale.

An amnesty film, 'The Look of Silence' will be shown on Wednesday, November 14 at 7.30pm.

There will also be a panel discussion on sustainable food, travel and energy on Thursday, November 15 at 7.30pm.
