Bourne Outdoor Swimming Pool reopens at the Abbey Lawn on Saturday, May 27

Swimmers are hoping for good weather this weekend when an outdoor pool reopens.

Volunteers have been working hard during the past few weeks to get Bourne Outdoor Swimming Pool ready for its first visitors of 2023.

The Met Office predicts temperatures of 14 degrees when the facility opens at 10.30am on Saturday (May 27), rising to 18 degrees later in the day.

Committee chairperson Mandy Delaine-Smith is looking forward to welcoming people back.

She said: “It has been hard work getting everything ready this year because we’ve had fewer volunteers than usual, but we had a great group from Perkins Engines giving us a hand.”

The facility in Abbey Road will open Monday to Friday from 12.30pm until 6.30pm for general swimming sessions, and from 10.30am until 6.30pm at weekends and bank holidays.

Other sessions will be held throughout the week including a ladies evening, under 15 fun nights, aquafit classes and lane swimming.

Last summer the pool hosted a dog pool party at the end of the season.
