House builder Persimmon Homes East Midlands says it has put down the right foundations to secure further growth as sales of its homes rises.

The developer, of Commerce Road, Lynch Wood, Peterborough, says it has sold 130 homes between the start of July and the end of September - 12 per cent ahead of the same time the previous year.

The third quarter has been an extremely busy time for the team.

Speaking after the company released its update for third quarter trading for this year, Simon McDonald, deputy managing director of Peterborough-based Persimmon Homes East Midlands, said: “The third quarter has been an extremely busy time for the team.

“Our private sales rate is 12 per cent ahead of last year and interest in our developments across the region is extremely encouraging.

“In the last three months we have opened new developments in Newark-on-Trent and Retford and we are currently selling homes in Raunds, Oundle and Peterborough.

“Growth inevitably leads to further employment and so far in 2015 we have seen an increase in our team with new sales advisers, sales managers and a newly-appointed sales and marketing director.”

The firm, which employs 100 people, took on five extra staff during the third quarter.

Mr McDonald said: “Persimmon has always been a house builder which creates homes for every level of the chain and many of our buyers are moving into their first ever home. Our aim is to continue to deliver homes across the region for buyers who may be renting or still living at home.

“Now is an excellent time to buy a new house with very competitive mortgage rates.”

In 2015, Persimmon has supported groups, good causes and charities through its Persimmon Community Champions programme.

Each month Persimmon East Midlands gives two local donations away, up to the value of £1,000 each.

Mr McDonald said: “So far in 2015 we have supported a diverse range of groups including the Biggleswade Cancer Support Group, Raunds Community First Responders and The Peterborough Gang Show.

“Such has been the success of our community champions programme we now want to reach even more good causes.

“We have £2,000 to give away every month and we’re calling on PTFAs, schools, church groups, charities and local groups to apply for a donation.”

Groups can apply from funding online at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.

So far in 2015, Persimmon has given away over £400,000 to local causes across the UK.
