Photos: Deepings Camera Club wins place at national competition through The North and East Midlands Photographic Federation
Deepings Camera Club qualified for a place in a national photographic competition before coronavirus stopped play.
The North and East Midlands Photographic Federation held its annual contest earlier this month to see which clubs would represent the federation at the national championships.
Each club had to submit 40 digital images before the event, and from those select just 16 to be shown in the first round.
At the end of that round the top eight teams went through to a further round.
For this phase some of the images used again, with the rest coming from the remainder of the bank of 40 that had been submitted.
Peter Lawrence and Ken Bunch, who were representing Deepings Camera Club, had just 10 minutes to make the new selection and hand that in.
When the final scores were announced, Rolls Royce Photographic Society from Derby were the clear winners, with Newark and District Photographic Society in second place.
Deepings Camera Club were just three points behind them in third.
Alongside the first-placed club, those in second and third spots also go through to the national finals.
Ken said that as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, all Lincolnshire Photographic Association's planned events and competitions had been cancelled and that Deepings Camera Club had also cancelled all meetings for at least the next two months.
No decision has so far been taken on the national finals but he said the club were delighted nonetheless to make the final for the third time in the club's history.
