Council tax in South Kesteven could rise by three per cent

South Kesteven District Council is proposing a council tax precept increase of three per cent for 2020/21.

The move would see the authority raise its share of the overall council tax bill by £5 for a band D property, which would take the bill from £158.62 to £163.62.

The council’s cabinet approved a recommendation to increase the precept at a meeting on Tuesday (January 21).

It follows Lincolnshire County Council’s announcement earlier this month that it plans to raise its general precept by 1.5 per cent, with a further two per cent increase specifically for adult social care.

Lincolnshire Police has yet to reveal its plan for the policing precept.

SKDC is asking residents and businesses for their views on its proposed increase as part of a consultation which outlines some of the projects the council has been working on over the last two years, as well as facts and figures on the daily services it provides. The consultation period started on Wednesday and will run for three weeks.
