Nene Valley Railway to host board game evening on steam train with Bourne-based Tabletop Gaming

Gamers are being offered the chance to play a classic railway board game while riding a heritage steam train.

Nene Valley Railway has teamed up with Bourne-based Tabletop Gaming magazine to host an evening of board games on Saturday, May 20.

The two-hour trip departs from Wansford station at 6.45pm, with guests asked to arrive from 6pm to 6.15pm ready for boarding.

“There’s a great history of board games about trains, and what better way to enjoy that, than on a historical train,” said Christopher John Eggett, editor of Tabletop Gaming.

"For gamers, it’s a chance to play classics like Ticket To Ride on a train – possibly the greatest ambience for a game about rail travel."

Seat options range from private compartments which can seat six (£199), to pre-booked tables of four (£99), and down to individual tickets (£35 for adults and £14.50 for children).

There’s also an option to pre-order Ticket To Ride and receive the game on the day of the event, but ticket-holders are invited to bring any table-friendly game they wish.

Snack boxes are also available for the journey, but guests can bring their own food and drink.
