An Uppingham playground at Tod's Piece has been refurbished with new equipment
Children have been making the most of the good weather by enjoying a trip to a newly-refurbished play park.
The equipment at Tod’s Piece has been replaced to make the area more attractive for children and their families.
Some parents admitted to travelling out of town to neighbouring villages because they felt the play equipment in Uppingham wasn’t up to scratch.
But the youngsters gave their seal of approval at the official opening on Tuesday morning.
Uppingham mayor Steve Rozak and High Sheriff of Rutland, Richard Coles, joined the opening ceremony.
Steve said: “This playarea is going to make a real difference to the community in Uppingham. We are extremely grateful to the FCC Communities Foundation for providing funding as it would not have been possible without their support.
“The new space is for children aged eight and under and the improved all-weather surface is ready for everything the British summer has in store!”
The project was funded by £50,000 from the FCC Communities Foundation.
It is a not-for-profit organisaton which awards grants for projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Spokesman Cheryl Raynor said: “It’s great to see the playarea fully open and being used by local children.
“The enhancements to the park are fantastic and offer families with young children a great space to play and have fun for many
years to come.
“FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and this is a great example of what can be achieved.”
