Popular butchery expands to Bourne

The “home” of authentic pork pies now has a presence in Bourne after a popular butcher opened a store in the town.

Nelson’s Butchers, which already has four stores - two in Stamford, and one each in Oakham and Uppingham - recently took over Sandalls Butchers in West Street, Bourne.

Nelsons Butchers co-owner Matt Kingston said the decision that he and business partner Kris Moore took to expand the business to Bourne was a “no brainer”.

“The opportunity to take over the existing shop came up and we took it,” said Matt.

“We used to cater for Bourne in a mobile van but now we have permanent presence there.

“It’s a great shop in a great town and there is a strong sense of local community in Bourne.”

Matt said that after taking over Nelsons in April, their aim had been to put the Nelsons brand “back on the map”.

“We’re still offering locally sourced product of the highest quality, but at competitive prices,” he said.

“We want to attract families back and get them buying from local shops again.”

He said the Bourne shop was of similar size to the store in Stamford and would stock all the same quality products that customers had come to know them for.

He said Kris, who had worked as a butcher since the age of 14 and owned his own butchery in Market Harborough, brought a wealth of knowledge to the business.

“Nelsons has been going for many years and we want to assure everyone that the quality and standard will still be there at fair prices.”
