Stamford Postman Stewart McGeoch dresses up as a postbox, loo roll and Darth Vader for fun
When someone covers 20-odd miles of tarmac dressed as a toilet roll, they are generally doing it for charity.
But if you spot Stamford postie Stewart McGeoch in costume, he's doing it simply to put a smile on your face.
In the past week he's dressed as Darth Vader, a postbox and even a toilet roll in order to bring cheer to residents during the coronavirus lockdown.
"It gets people smiling and talking," said Stewart, who has been a postal worker since March last year.
"Children do point at me, and several people driving past have done a double take, as if they couldn't quite believe their eyes first time."
Stewart completed 22 miles of delivery routes as a toilet roll last week, which wasn't easy because of the shape of the costume.
"I couldn't get the post bag over my shoulder properly, so it kept slipping off," he said.
"Mind you, the Darth Vader costume has a mask with perspex eyes, and that didn't make my vision too good.
"I had to keep squinting at the letters to see the house numbers!"
Meanwhile, his postbox outfit proved a little more practical, although a lack of peripheral vision meant Stewart ended up in a few tussles with twigs as he passed through people's front gardens.
Staff shortages during the coronavirus outbreak means that Stewart and his Royal Mail colleagues are covering more miles than usual, because they are doubling up on rounds.
He added: "Thank you to everyone thanking us posties whether in person, giving us a thumbs up or clap, or by leaving messages on the door. It really does make a difference."
As well as working in Stamford, Stewart is a familiar face in Nassington, which he often covers on a Friday.
