The Deepings Dog Show took place on Father's Day this year and to recognise the fact, a special class to celebrate man and his best friend was included.

The 'one man and his dog class' attracted more than 20 entries and was won by Moss, a Border Collie who attended with owner Antonio Ferrara.

One of the show's organisers, Judy Stevens, said there had a been a "great response" to the class.

Antonio walked away with some locally brewed beer from the Hopshackle Brewery as a prize.

Judy said the show , which was organised in partnership with the Friends of Jubilee Park and Deeping St James Parish Council, raised more than £1,000.

"The money will help (Friends of Jubilee Park) in their final push to raise funds for a trim trail which they aim to install in the popular park in the next few months," she said.

A trim trail, also sometimes called a fitness trail, can strengthen the upper and lower body and improve coordination amongst children.

They are great for encouraging exercise amongst children in playgrounds and parks as they provide a variety of physical challenges that cover balance, core stability and gross motor skill development.

Judy said this was the most money raised in the five year history of the dog show.

She attributed the increase to the show gaining in popularity over the years, and said it had become "a recognised date on the social calendar".

In addition to the one man and his dog class, there were also classes for cutest puppy and best rescue.

"Just over 100 dogs entered across all the classes," said Judy.

"Overall it was a very successful and enjoyable day and a lot of people turned up and the feedback was good.

"It was a very social occasion as people got together and spent time chatting and catching up."

Event organisers thanked all those who entered the show and lent a hand both on the day and before the event.
