Stamford School pupil has art shown near Tate Modern in Rivers of the World exhibition

A proud 13-year-old has visited London to view his artwork which is being displayed at a Rivers of the World exhibition.

During lockdown Charlie Ragdale, a pupil at Stamford School, submitted his drawing through the Peterborough art organisation, Metal Culture.

He is among many other young artists whose work is being displayed in the exhibition outside the Tate Modern.

Laura, Charlie’s mum, said: “This year in lockdown he looked at what we could do and he entered it. One of the things his school had asked is that they had to do summer activities.”

Among this was a task to enter a national competition which Charlie, from Stamford, decided would be the River’s of the World.

Laura said: “It was done on the River Nene and so he did it from the point of view of a swan and reeds rather than the river itself.

“He was selected for the display which was a great boost to his confidence.

“He’s already chosen his subjects and selected art - it’s something he wants to do as a career.”

Charlie’s artwork is also being displayed at the Art Pop-Up exhibition in Ironmongers Street, Stamford.
