Pupils from Catmose College in Oakham excel in American poetry contest





Teenagers from Catmose College in Oakham made their mark in an American poetry competition.

Five pupils received honours in the My Hero Mattie J T Stepanek contest. It is hosted by a California charity in memory of a 13-year-old peace activist.

Entrants were asked to write about heroes working for peace, human rights and the environment.

Chiara Reedha came joint first in the Middle School category and commendations were awarded to Isaac Mackinnon, Ned Evans, Hannah Wilcox and Nathan Harper.

English teacher Judith Green said: "We were delighted to observe the enthusiasm and the range of subjects that inspired them.”
