Pupils at St Nicholas School, Cottesmore, support Rutland Foodbank

Children have been putting others in their community first through a school project that speaks out for those whose voices may not be easily heard.

As part of their ‘Courageous Advocacy’ project, Year 4 pupils at St Nicholas School, Cottesmore, decided to raise funds for the Rutland Foodbank.

They felt the food bank is a charity close to the hearts of those in their community.

The children wanted their project to help people to feel cosy and comfortable and to raise funds and awareness they held a themed non-uniform day.

The following week, the children hosted an afternoon tea for the school community which was well attended.

The two events raised £276.50, which has been donated to the Trussell Trust and will support the community and help to make a long-term change to build a hunger-free future.
