Record turnout for mother's pamper day at Oakham C of E Primary School
Schoolchildren got the Mothering Sunday weekend off to a great start when they put on the annual special pamper morning for their mums at Oakham C of E Primary School.
Around 35 children from the foundation (reception) year were joined by mums, grandmas and aunties on Friday morning for the special event where they were treated to a variety of beauty treatments, including nails and hair.
The children carried out many of the treatments themselves such as the hair, massages and nail painting.
There was also a reading zone where they could read a book together with their mum.
Steve Cox, executive headteacher at the Burley Road school for four years, said:
“It was fantastic - it went really, really well.
“We were absolutely delighted with the turnout.
“It was out best ever turnout.
“We had aunties, grandmas, friends and families and they all had an amazing time.
“The feedback we got was overwhelming.
“There was a hair salon zone, nail bar zone, perfume zone and a hand massage zone.
“There was also a shortbreads and squash zone which was also a refreshments zone.
“We also had a portrait zone where they could have themselves drawn and get it framed.
“The whole event was brilliant.
“The children were so excited about it all.
“We have done it for many years but this has been our best ever turnout.
“We were really pleased with how it went and the support we received from everyone.
“It was lovely and we even had staff who don’t normally work on a Friday come in specially for it.”
The school thanked the foundation stage staff and pupils for making the morning such a special event.
Oakham C of E Primary, which was graded as ‘good’ in it’s most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2017, along with the parent teacher association, is hosting their family bingo event on Friday (April 5), starting at 6pm.
