A renewables firm helped school pupils take on engineering and science projects as part of a national scheme.

Navitron, based in Oakham, worked with Oakham School on the Go4SET programme, which was created by The Engineering Development Trust to increase the number of UK pupils pursuing careers in science, engineering and technology.

Pupils were challenged to come up with a new eco-friendly classroom in their school by considering ways of reducing energy and water use. And they were asked to come up with ways to improve a particular railway station of their choice.

Navitron commercial director Stephen Knight said: “Not only did each group show a tremendous amount of determination and ingenuity, but they also proved they have what it takes to become the future of science, engineering and technology industries.”
