Road across Lincolnshire with the most potholes, including figures for Stamford, Bourne, Spalding, Grantham and the Deepings

Potholes are a source of hatred, frustration and annoyance for drivers.

The quality of the roads we drive on can have a big impact on our vehicle and, more importantly, safety.

In the past year Lincolnshire County Council has spent £3,155,328 fixing potholes. But often as soon as one is filled, new potholes are reported.

The council usually repairs potholes deeper than 40mm on the roads and deeper than 25mm in a footpath.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire County Council said: “Safety is our top priority, so any faults that are a danger to drivers and other road users will be repaired before others.

“If we have a major scheme of maintenance planned for the area, we may not carry out works immediately.

“To help prioritise repairs we consider the size and depth of the pothole alongside the location including the traffic speed and volume.”

Potholes deeper than 40mm on A roads are usually filled within 24 hours of reporting while on B and C roads it normally takes up to 28 days of reporting.
