Nisa shop opens at former Northfields pub in Stamford
A new convenience store has opened its doors on the site of the former Northfields Pub in Stamford.
The Nisa shop on the corner of Drift Road and Kesteven Road was officially opened on Friday last week (October 23) by Deputy Mayor of Stamford Gloria Johnson.
Owner Siva Thievanayagam said the first few days of trading had been busy, with fresh local produce from Grasmere Butchers and King's Cliffe Bakery selling particularly well - as well as Tango Ice Blast drinks.
The shop is also stocking greetings cards made by members of the Nicholls family , who live off Radcliffe Road in Stamford.
"The support from local people has been amazing," said Siva. "This is a doorstep shop for people in Stamford and because we have wide aisles it's a good place for people with disabilities to use, as well as giving people space to social distance."
Siva already runs similar convenience stores in Stilton village, St Neots and in Peterborough.
The Northfields pub was built in the 1930s and closed early in 2015. It had, over the past five years, fallen into disrepair.
