A15 closure at Thurlby leaves drivers confused
An overnight closure of the A15 in Thurlby came into place half an hour earlier than planned tonight (Tuesday, June 7) despite traffic chaos in nearby Bourne.
Bourne is busier than usual as a result of traffic leaving the A1 at Colsterworth. The A1 northbound has been closed for more than 12 hours today because of a lorry fire this morning, which required the carriageway to be resurfaced.
Planned roadworks start tonight on the A15 at Thurlby but are advertised as starting from 7pm and running until 6am.
But the road was closed at 6.30pm tonight, despite no diversion signs being in place and the cones being set up just metres away from an electronic sign advertising the closure as 7pm.
The road is closed between the junction with Wilsthorpe Lane and High Street, leaving large vehicles to negotiate Obthorpe Lane and the village of Thurlby, before returning to the A15.
Lincolnshire County Council has been contacted for a comment.
