Round Table cancels Stamford Car Show - its only source of fundraising

Stamford and District Round Table has decided to cancel the Car Show - its only source of fundraising - because of coronavirus.

Organisers said the decision to cancel the event, which had been due to take place on Sunday, August 30, on The Meadows, was taken with "great regret".

Chairman of the Round Table Jim Coulam said: "With the current restrictions in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we feel we cannot guarantee the health and safety of our organising members, the car enthusiasts and the general public.

"This is a great blow to our small organisation, particularly at a time when we are spending so much of our funds on food parcels for the needy and elderly in and around Stamford and this decision hasn’t been taken lightly.

"I do hope the Car Show, which is now our only source of fundraising, will come back bigger and better in 2021."

The 2019 event raised a record amount after the event was blessed with good weather.
