Rutland Ploughing Match set for weekend action
Part of Great Britain’s agricultural heritage, the annual Rutland Ploughing Match takes place this Saturday from 9am at Ingthorpe Farm, Ingthorpe.
The match has 10 classes ranging from horse ploughing through vintage and classic tractors to modern day machines with much larger ploughs.
There will also be a ploughing demonstration by two steam engines pulling a plough back and forth on steel rope.
The Ploughing starts at 9.30am and is judged until 1.30pm.
Entry is free and there is a licensed bar from 11am, sponsored by Bakers Dozen Brewery of Ketton.
"The Rutland Ploughing Match committee look forward to welcoming the general public to the match, but please be aware of moving machinery at all times," said committee member Russ Hibbitt.
