Rutland's first McDonald's is news in The New York Times

The go-ahead for McDonald's to build its first restaurant in Rutland has made the news in The New York Times.

On Tuesday (January 14), Rutland County Council's planning committee voted in favour of allowing the fast-food giant to open a branch in Oakham.

This means that Rutland will soon lose its claim to be the only English county not to have a McDonald's restaurant, a fact that has hit the headlines locally, nationally and now internationally.
