Popular police drama Happy Valley returned to TV screens this week, with many scenes from the first episode filmed in Rutland.

Series two of the acclaimed BBC One show featuring Sarah Lancashire and rising star James Norton began on Tuesday (February 9). Cast and crew spent several days filming at Oakham Enterprise Park in December to make use of one of the remaining prison blocks. They also provided a valuable boost for the tourism trade by staying in local hotels.

Formerly HMP Ashwell, Rutland County Council purchased Oakham Enterprise Park from the Ministry of Justice in 2013 and has spent more than two years transforming the site into a thriving hub for local businesses. For more information, visit: www.rutland.gov.uk

Happy Valley has won more than 30 awards since first hitting television screens in 2014, including a BAFTA for Best Drama Series in 2015. You can catch up with the show online using the BBC iPlayer.
