GCSE results 2021: Almost two-third of Oakham School grades among top bracket
An Oakham school has celebrated top GCSEs results as more than a quarter of all grades awarded to pupils were at the very top echelon.
Grade 9 made up 28 per cent of the results awarded at the independent school, while more than 65 per cent were awarded grades 9 to 7 - the equivalent of the old A* to A grade.
And almost 100 per cent of grades awarded were in the 9 to 4 (A*to C) bracket.
Dr Dudin, deputy head academic at Oakham School, said: "It is wonderful to see so many individual successes across our broad range of subjects, and I commend the determination and dedication of pupils and colleagues."
The school is set to welcome 66 new pupils into sixth form when the new school year begins.
"Even though there have been no examinations in the traditional sense, the hard work of this year group warrants recognition and endorsement," said headteacher Henry Price.
"I congratulate every single pupil, not only on their results, but also for their resilience, determination and good sense during an unsettling 18 months.
"I hope that they can now look forward to returning to school and beginning the next leg of their academic journey.
"The sixth form presents something of a fresh start for pupils in any school, and there is a huge amount to look forward to in the Upper School at Oakham; new courses, new opportunities and new friendships.
"I am incredibly grateful to the teaching staff for their care, commitment and hard work, and to our parents, who have shown unfailing support for their children and the school."
