Cottesmore Academy in Rutland is rated as good by Ofsted
A primary school has made vast improvements in the past four years.
Cottesmore Academy was rated good across all areas following an Ofsted inspection, having been deemed as ‘requiring improvement’ in 2018.
Lead Ofsted inspector Joanne Sanchez-Thompson was impressed with the school’s emphasis on reading, which is described as being ‘at the heart of the curriculum’.
Pupils were praised for their behaviour and attitudes towards each other.
The report said: “Pupils are proud of their school. They embrace the values of expectations, pride, independence and collaboration.
“Pupils’ personal development is a strength of the school. Leaders plan a range of activities that helps them become resilient and reflective.”
Headteacher Meg Lucas said: “We are incredibly proud to be judged as a good school in all areas. Our inspection recognised the passion, enthusiasm and commitment from everyone at school and confirmed just how epic it is.
"I am proud to be part of such an amazing team who continually go over and above for all our children.
"Our school is particularly unique as we are situated on an Army barracks. We celebrate our specialness and are proud to support our service families as we continue our journey to being outstanding”
To improve further, all subject leaders must clarify the most important things for pupils to know and remember at each stage of their education.
