Village scouts took to the streets for a one-mile walk, cycle or run as part of a national challenge.

Chief Scout Bear Grylls launched the Hike to the Moon challenge as part of last week's Big Night In fundraising drive.

The initiative was hosted by the BBC, Children in Need and Comic Relief to support people in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

Scout members across the country were asked to walk a mile with the aim of clocking up 240,000 miles between them.

Members of Horbling and Billingborough Scout Group took part.

Leader Helen Robinson said: "I’m extremely proud of all our young people and the leaders for encouraging them to get involved in this fantastic fundraising event.

"There was a mixture of walking, running, garden activities, skating, cycling and running machines to complete their one-mile challenge."

Thursday was also St George's Day which is an important date in the calendar as he is the patron saint of Scouting.

Helen said: "We had many photos submitted of the young people and leaders renewing their promises at home on what is a poignant day in the Scouting calendar."
