For the Love of Scrubs Stamford, Lincs/Rutland receives donations from Freemasons and broadcaster Chris Evans among others
A sewing group led by a theatre costume designer has now provided scrubs and other garments to more than 1,200 frontline healthcare workers.
For the Love of Scrubs Stamford, Lincs/Rutland, run by Miriam Davies, continues to receive support and donations from a range of people and organisations.
Most recently the group received £2,000 from the local Freemasons as well as enough material for 200 sets of scrubs from charitable group Stamford Kiwanis.
Miriam, whose usual job involves designing and making costumes for Stamford Shakespeare Company, also received £7,000 worth of fabric from broadcaster Chris Evans and his 11-year-old son Noah.
Noah camped out in the family’s garden for 30 days and Chris held auctions to raise a whopping £1.3 million towards protective clothing for frontline NHS workers.
The group also received a fabric donation from Paul Smith Nottingham and Morrisons in Stamford, among many others.
In total they have supplied scrubs, bags, hats and headbands to 1,283 healthcare workers and have received orders for 10,664 garments.
Miriam said: “We are continually blown away and feel honoured by the belief others have in our wonderful FTLOS Stamford, Lincs/Rutland group!
“We feel so grateful to be donated this array of gorgeous fabric to be able to support and protect our NHS frontline workers. And we are, on a daily basis, grateful for all of the stunning volunteers who give their time, skills, creativity, energy, and love to the cause.”
Anyone requiring scrubs, hats, headbands or bags can contact the group directly at fortheloveofscrubs2@gmail.com
There are currently 1,018 members of the group on Facebook and more are always welcome as orders for more garments continue to come in.
Miriam added: “We are built on this extraordinary community of people who have given their time and absolute love to this; it’s a complete privilege for us all to work alongside the most extraordinary people in helping our frontline healthcare heroes.”
“We absolutely couldn’t do it without the generous funding we have been lucky enough to receive or the amazing sewing team who work tirelessly making the most incredible scrubs and accessories. They truly are an incredible group of people.”
