Elderly shopkeeper threatened with knife and punched during raid at South Witham Village Shop
An elderly shopkeeper was threatened with a knife and punched as two men wearing hoodies raided a village shop.
The robbery happened at the village shop in South Witham at around 6pm on Monday as one man jumped over the counter and ripped the till out.
They made off with around £500 and a haul of cigarettes.
The shopkeeper and the colleague who were working in the store that evening were not present this morning (Wednesday, November 6).
But manager Michelle Holdsworth explained what she knew to the Mercury today.
“They came in and one jumped over the counter. He took cigarettes and ripped the till out.
“The other was holding the shopkeeper and was threatening him with a knife. He also got punched.
“The pair did not take it very well. It made them nervous.”
Lincolnshire Police yesterday issued an appeal for CCTV and dashcam footage as part of their enquiries.
They said both offenders were described as slim and were wearing black hoodies with their faces covered.
The pair left the store at 14 High Street on foot at 6.10pm, minutes after entering.
