Shoppers play table tennis for charity at Bourne superstore
Shoppers at Tesco in Bourne put their trollies and baskets to one side for a table tennis day in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Mayor of Bourne Coun Philip Knowles (pictured left in front of Spalding and District Table Tennis League’s Joe Beadle) joined students from Bourne Academy and Bourne Grammar School one of the area’s top players Colin Vertigan for the demonstration event.
I play table tennis in the Spalding and District League, along with my grandson, so it was very pleasant to join in with the event
Store manager Mark Porter joined in at the event and Joe said: “One of the store’s community champions who wanted to raise money for the charity thought of doing something a little different.
“So we organsied a table tennis demonstration and it went very well.”
Coun Knowles said: “I play table tennis, along with my grandson, so it was very pleasant to join in with the event.
“It was a very good morning and, occasionally, members of the public joined in with us.”
