Rutland Fairtrade Christmas Market attracts hundreds of people

A crowd of about 400 people gathered at a Fairtrade Christmas market over the weekend.

Oakham Castle was lined with stalls selling a range of Fairtrade and ethically traded items including food, clothing, accessories and crafts.

People who attended were able to learn about ethical investment opportunities and representatives from Oakham’s C-operative store offered samples of Fairtrade chocolate and wine.

The market was organised by the Rutland Fairtrade Forum and chairman of the group David Lewis said: “By choosing to buy Fairtrade products, visitors to the market were playing a small part in helping Fairtrade producers, at a time when they need our help more than ever.”
