Slideshow: A great end to the 21st Colsterworth Festival of Performing Arts

Record entries have made this year’s Colsterworth Festival of Performing Arts one of the best yet.

The event has seen an increase in numbers taking part in music, drama and dance – bringing the total to more than 3,500 performers.

And schools were able to get involved too, with the popular Schools Day taking place at The Meres Leisure Centre on Friday.

Festival chairman Julia Kerby said: “It was another great festival – and our 21st year. We had seven fantastic adjudicators who commented on the high standard of performers throughout the festival. Many comments were received from performers and their families on how positive and inspiring the adjudicators were.”

The three-week festival began with dance at the Priory Ruskin Academy, a new venue which Julia described as “fantastic”. Drama and film-making followed, ending with the Schools Day, which attracted participation from Isaac Newton, Colsterworth, South Witham, Dudley House, Barkston and Syston, and Barrowby primary schools.

Winner of the bursary was Serena Newell, with Adelia Hunter and Isabelle Perks as runners-up.

Julia gave thanks to the hard-working committee and volunteers, adding: “I’m looking forward to 2018 already!”
