Parts of Lincolnshire and Rutland wake to snowfall leading to problems on the roads and rail
The snowfall overnight has brought with it a flurry of problems on the roads and closures.
St Augustine’s Primary School in Stamford blew a fuse yesterday, leaving most of the school without heating or lighting. While generators are installed today (Tuesday), the school is closed and online learning has been set up for pupils.
Headteacher Tina Cox apologised for “the obvious disruption” and thanked parents for their support.
Sir William Robertson Academy in Welbourn is also closed today because many of the routes to the school are unsafe for travel.
Elsewhere in the transport network, there is a disruption between Grantham and Peterborough on the trainlines due to a broken rail.
There are also reports that a tree is blocking the carriageway on the A607 near Fulbeck.
In Rutland, roads are said to be slippery but passable and Rutland Police advised drivers to take care.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow which is in place until 11am today (Tuesday, November 19).
