Percy Pig visits Stamford's Mark and Spencer
Shoppers at Stamford's Mark and Spencer were greeted with a surprise this morning (Friday, July 29) as Percy Pig visited the store.
Arguable one of the most well-known pigs across the country, Percy is celebrating his 30th birthday this year.
What started off as a bag of sweets has turned into a craze for both adults and children with large ranges of merchandise and a variety of Percy-themed sweet treats.
Clare Morley, deputy store manager at Stamford Marks and Spencer, said: "It's gone from one bag of sweets to Percy Pig everything. From pyjamas to rucksacks and picnic stuff.
"People love Percy. He really has that feel good factor which both children and adults love.
"We see him as Marks and Spencer's own legend."
Already Percy has received ample visitors from families coming in to a nursery making a special trip across town to see him.
"The kids are very excited to see him," said Clare, "and we are very happy to have him in the store."
The character will appear in the food hall for half-hour stints at 11am, midday and 1pm before oinking goodbye at 1.30pm .
Shoppers will also have the chance to enter a free Percy-themed raffle.
