Stamford economists are top of the class
Four Year 12 economists from Stamford Endowed Schools won a competition held at Uppingham School, beating sixth form economists from Oundle and Uppingham.
The teams had to present their own forecasts for inflation over the next 18 months and make their recommendation for interest rates and monetary policy to achieve the Bank of England’s 2% inflation target.
The four economics students from Stamford Endowed Schools were Freddie Shaw, Elicia Miller, Calum Fryatt and Hugh Dalrymple, who gave a 15-minute presentation before being questioned by a panel of judges drawn from academia and business.
Team captain Hugh Dalrymple said the event used much of their A-level knowledge on current issues.
