Stamford Scootathon is rescheduled because of waterlogged course

Organisers of the Stamford Scootathon have had to postpone the event because the course is waterlogged.

The races were due to take place at Stamford Welland Academy on Saturday (June 15) but this week's heavy rain has left the field unusable.

The course is divided into three sections which competitors have to scoot, cycle and run across.

A spokesman said: "We have unfortunately had to take the decision to postpone the scootathon planned for this Saturday.

"Given so much of the event takes part on the field, the water will make it very difficult."

The event will now take place on Saturday, September 7 at Stamford Welland Academy.

Anyone who has entered should be contacted by email with the new details.

The event is open to primary school children across Stamford but current year six pupils who have registered will still be eligible to take part in September.

Anyone else who is interested in taking part on the rescheduled date can email stamfordscootathon@gmail.com to check if spaces are available.

The event allows children to collect sponsorship for their own school.
