A new “world” champion has been crowned in the traditional pub game of nurdling.

The Jackson Stops Inn in Stretton held the tournament on Saturday. Nurdling, which involves throwing a penny into a hole in a bench, has been played there for hundreds of years.

The contest became a world championship after a Hungarian visitor won in 2011. This year a 26 people took part, with Paul Cassapi eventually winning the final.
