Kirkby Underwood's 2019 produce show was a success

The 2019 produce show held on Saturday, September 14, in Kirkby Underwood’s Village Hall, was a great success and created some stunning exhibits, writes Anthony Andrews.

More than 180 entries were made in a wide range of classes.

Everything from horticultural produce, cooking, wine making, handicrafts and photography were covered and gave an opportunity for everyone. There were also specific classes for juniors.

Overall winners, with the most number of points scored, were: adults – Gillian Andrews, juniors – Jessica Langman and the longest runner bean cup was won by Frank Wyer with a runner bean 38.7cms in length.

The organisers were Katrine Hudson and Henry Louth.

“Once again we were delighted with the number and quality of the entries in view of the small size of our village,” said Katrine.

“We were also very pleased that our special award, the longest runner bean cup was won by Frank Wyer who has tried for several year to win this class.” she concluded.
