Bourne Galletly Practice receives an award for its cancer care

A surgery has been rewarded for its outstanding commitment to caring for patients with cancer.

The Bourne Galletly Practice received a Lincolnshire Care Award having proved that staff go above and beyond for their patients.

To qualify for the award, a surgery must also invite patients to cancer care reviews, carry out the reviews effectively, provide support for families, and promote a standardised service.

The awards are run by NHS Lincolnshire in partnership with Macmillan. They recognises practices which demonstrate commitment to cancer care reviews and provide ongoing care to patients.

Macmillan's living with cancer community development project manager, Cath Koutna, said the team had gone "above and beyond for its patients".

She presented a plaque and certificate.

GP and partner Rebecca Mitchell said: “It’s so important to us all that we provide the very best services to all of our patients, and obviously anyone affected by cancer needs to know they are getting the best care and support possible.

"We strive to go the extra mile and to be commended in this way is wonderful.”
